Thank you for finding this. Nancy Emilene Giesler I show as dau of Melinda Boens & William Giesler and is the Nancy who m. John Ballance. I'd have to double check on Melinda's maiden name. My notes for William & Melinda W.M. Giesler is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Howell County, Missouri. There is a Civil War marker which show's he served in Co G. 32 Mo. Inf. - no date of birth or death date. Civil War Service Index for Missouri shows he served Co. F. 32 MO Inf. I think it's the handwriting - I have the actual film copy of the service record and it's an "F" however the way it's written with swoops and swirls could be mistaken for a "G" by whoever made up the marker. William enlisted Aug. 21, 1862 at Rolla, Mo. 1870 Census - Howell Co., MO - Howell Twp. pg. 486a household #106-105 - GIESLER, William 35 b. TN Farmer " Malinda 34 b. IN " Nancy E.13 b. MO (b. 1857 " Charles S. 3 b. MO " Sarah J. 1 b. MO A Homestead Land Warrant dated 20 April 1874 - Acces. #MO4280 filed by Malinda Geisler in Howell Co., MO. William had died there and Malinda had to file to claim the land they had settled on in order to sell it. She then sold the land to E.F. Heyner, Jan 19, 1885 for $125.00 plus taxes. This deed was filed both in Howell Co. and Maries Co., MO. (Howell Co., MO Deed BK N, pg. 426) Malinda also applied for pension on William's Civil War service. She and children returned to Maries Co. by 1880. I found the children in 1900, but not Malinda. Pam Smith Dallas, OR Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Pam, I have copy of Sarah Jane Giesler Underwood who was born 04-Jan. 1870 and died 3 Jan. 1942 and is buried in the Underwood Cemetery, Maries County Mo. This cerrtificate shows informant as S.S. Underwood and her parents as Wm. Giesler and Malinda Barnes. Sarah's sister was Martha Jane Giesler who married Hargus Washington Hart. Hopes this helps.
