Obit., 1971 - mid-Missouri newspaper: "Mrs. Irene R. Copeland, 83, of Dixon, formerly of Meta, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1971, at the Charles E. Still Hospital in Jefferson City. Mrs. Copeland was born march 25, 1888 in Maries County near Meta and Van Cleve, the daughter of John R. and Fannie (Woody) Pendleton. She was married on April 26, 1906 to Layman Adkins who died on July 4, 1939. Mrs. Copeland, in June of 1932, was married to William R. Copeland, who preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 1956. She lived in Maries County all of her life until 1954 when she moved to Dixon in Pulaski County. Mrs. Copeland had been a member of the Camp Ground Christian Church since the age 15. Also preceding her in death were three sons and three daughters. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Viola Burd of Meta; Mrs. Opal Rowden of Lonedell; and Mrs. Ruby Davis of Dixon; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held today (Thursday) at the Iberia Nazarene Church with the Rev. Gary Gulley and the Rev. Menzo Sooter officiating. Interment was in the Pendleton Cemetery near meta under the direction of the Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia. Pallbearers were Don Burd, Myrl Adkins, Elmer Spillars, Boyd Rowden, Gene Martin and Lonnie Rowden. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Rowden, Frank Barnett, Gary elder, Willis Bassett, Kevin Rowden and Randy Rowden."
