    3. Obit., 1976- mid-Missouri newspaper: " Walter Carl Birmingham, 72, of Vienna, died Tuesday, July 6, 1976 at a Jefferson City hospital following an apparent heart attack. He was born April 8, 1904 at Vienna, the son of John Michael and Ella Coates Birmingham. He was married Feb. 23, 1943 in St. Louis to the former Miss Hazel Grempczynski of Dixon, who survives at the home. He was elected to the office of Maries County Coroner in 1948 and has served in that office since. He was a funeral director and owner of the Birmingham Funeral Home in Vienna, which he established in 1932. He had operated the funeral home in partnership with David Morton since Jan. 1975, at which time the name was changed to Birmingham-Morton Funeral Home. Mr. Birmingham was a member of the Vienna American Legion Post No. 12, and a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of the Mo. Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Director Association. He was also appointed an Honorary Mo. Colonel during the administration of Gov. James Blair. Funeral services were held July 8, at the Vienna United Methodist Church with the Rev. Earl Coats officiating. Burial was in the Vienna Cemetery."
