Working on updating my descendant family tree for Barnabas Madison Poe and seeking information regarding death, burial, and descendants, if any, of the following: Charles Courtwright (Courtright), son of J. D. Courtwright and Martha Virginia Hancks, grandson of William and Mary Ann Poe Anderson, great-grandson of Barnabas Madison Poe and Eliza Backues all of Gasconade, Osage and Maries Counties. In 1930 Charles Courtwright was living in Jefferson City, Missouri and working as a guard at the state prison. His children (below) were living with their grandparents, Frank (Frantz) and Emma Pointer in Jefferson Township, Osage County, Missouri. Hattie Jane Pointer Courtwright had died in March, 1919 following childbirth, her unnamed daughter died three months later. Charles, Hattie and children lived at Cooper Hill before Hattie died. Gertrude Geneva Courtwright, born May 15, 1913: is she the G. Geneva Courtright buried under Stone 10, Row 6, College Hill Cemetery, Jefferson Township, Osage County, Missouri? Did she ever marry? Arthur Burl Courtwright, born December 3, 1914(?): is he the Arthur Courtright shown in the Social Security Death Index who died November, 1965 with a Social Security number issued in Iowa? Did he have a family, if so, where and who are they? Roy F. Courtwright born in 1917-1918, no trace after the 1930 Federal Census, Jefferson Township, Osage County, Missouri. Bill, I do not know if there is a connection or not to your Courtwrights, but there was a Burl Courtwright who was a past patient at Mo. State Sanitorium, now Mo. State Rehab at Mt. Vernon, Lawrence Co., MO. and after being released he worked there for years and lived in Mt. Vernon. He was married but as far as I know there was no children. He also had a sister named Geneva Courtwright, who also was a past patient, then employee at the Mo. State Sanitorium and she never married. He died while living here, am not sure about Geneva.
