Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper - 1975: "Mabel D. Hensley, age 78 years, of Route 1, Meta, passed away Sat., June 7, 1975, at Charles E. Still Hospital in Jefferson City. Mrs. Hensley was born April 13, 1897 near St. Elizabeth, the daughter of James and Ida DeAtley Clark. She was united in marriage on march 26, 1920 to Harvey J. Hensley, who preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 1973. Mrs.. Hensley lived all her live in the Meta and St. Elizabeth areas. She had taught school at Fairview School near Iberia and had been a nurses aid at Fort Leonard Wood until 1945. She had been a member of Humphrey's Creek Christian Church since 1912, a charter member of the Ft. Leonard Wood Eastern Star and now a member of Iberia Easter Star Chapter 537 where she was a 25 year member and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in St. Elizabeth. Surviving are: two son, Warren C. Hensley of St. Louis and James T. Hensley of Jefferson City; one sister, Mrs. Maude Grady of Iberia; two grandchildren, Mrs.. Madelon and James Hensley, Jr. and tow great-grandchildren; Michelle Madelon and Kristin Madelon. Eastern Star services were Monday at the Stevinson Chapel in Iberia by the Iberia Chapter 537. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 10, at the Stevinson Chapel with the Rev. Gene Edwards officiating. Interment was in the Iberia Cemetery under the direction of the Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia. Pallbearers were Wade Hensley, Wayne Hensley, Jasper Hensley, Sterling Cross, Gene Johnson and Fremont Shackleford."
