Unfortunately her mother's name is still unknown. The Cowan/Cowen family and the Martin family of Buncombe County moved together to Gasconade County, MO in about 1830, leaving one son John Cowan in NC. Stacy's brother was David Cowen, son of Adam. Adam died in Gasconade County in late 1835 or early 1836. Recently a DNA test was done on a member of David Cowen's descendants from MO, and on a member of John Cowan's descendants from Buncombe County.
