Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper, 1971: "Joe Duncan, 86, formerly of Jefferson City, died Wednesday, January 13, (1971) at a nursing home in Stover. Mr. Duncan was born in Maries County, March 26, 1884, the son of Birl and Rose Vaughn Duncan. On April 5, 1905, he was married to Nora Campbell who died June 7, 1970. He was employed by the City of Jefferson for 35 years. Survivors include; two sons, Col. James B. Duncan, Jefferson City; and J. Lester Duncan, Bagnell Dam; a daughter, Mrs. Kizzie Kinman, Estes Park, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Betty Campbell, Union; a brother, John Duncan, Union; 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Freeman Chapel."
