Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper - 1972: " Samuel Dexter Gray, 65, died at Phelps county Memorial Hospital on Saturday, June 24, 1972. He was born at Vichy on December 16, 1906, the son of Charley and Francis Hart Gray. He was married on May 23, 1936 at Vienna to Gladys Davis, who survives. Other survivors are a step-son, Pete Shivers, Vienna; and two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Shaw, of Leslie and Elsie Gray of Fulton. He live his entire life in Maries County near Vichy where he farmed except for a short time when he was employed by a railroad in Newburg. He was a member of the Church of Christ. The funeral was held on Monday, June 24, from the Birmingham Funeral Home with the Rev. Orville Elrod officiating. Burial was in the Snodgrass Cemetery."
