Obit., mid- Missouri newspaper: " Mrs. Mabel Opal Litton 66, Belle, died Saturday morning ( Feb. 23, 1974) at a Jefferson City hospital. She was born May 26, 1908, in Maries County, the daughter of R. J. and Rhilda Thompson Jett. On march 15, 1926, she was married to William E. Litton, who survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Carl Litton, Denver, Colorado; and Bernard Litton, Owensville; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Shockley, Vienna; and Mrs. Betty Thompson, Belle. Two brothers, Bryce Jett and Boyd Jett, both of Belle. Five sisters, Mrs. Vera Glenn and Mrs. Myrie Ennis, both of St. James; mrs. Dale Helmich, Jefferson City; mrs. Bernice Langhorst, Rosebud; and mrs. Ruby Cook, Belle; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, Belle, with the Rev. A. E. Davidson officiating. Burial was at Highgate."
