BAXTER, 85 Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Honora Baxter were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Liberty Church of Christ with Minister D.L. Lewis and Minister Arvil Elrod officiating. Burial was in the Liberty cemetery. Mrs. Baxter was born November 20, 1877, a daughter of M. R. and Mary (Walter) Matthews, and died Friday, January 11 at the home of a grandson, Mr and Mrs Alfred Baxter in Belle. She had been in good health until about a month ago. She was a victim of cancer. In November 1896 she was married to William Baxter who died in July 1943. Six children were born of this marriage, four of whom survive, Mrs. Emil (Ethel) Jones of Rolla, Homer Baxter of St. Louis, Mrs. Don (Ruby) Wallace and Bernie Baxter of Belle. A son Ralph and daughter Ruth, a twin of Mrs. Wallace, preceded her in death. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ near Belle, having been baptized over 70 years ago. She helped build the Old Frame Church and clear the ground for the building.
