    3. Good morning Steve: I'm descended from Neal McKeever and Bridget Kerr through their daughter Mary Ann and John Grant (my great grandparents). My grandmother was their daughter Rosalia (I'm assuming the Gaelic version of Rose Ann named for her grandmother Rose Ann (Owens) Grant, wife of W. S. Grant.). Her sister, my great aunt, was Clem Schulte;s mother. The only information I have thus far about the Irish townships is that Rose Ann Owen's parents were Michael and Ann Owens and they immigrated from Killesher Parish in County Fermanagh, Ireland. They are the ones who donated the land where Owens Cemetary is located. I think these folks were somewhat familiar with one another from Ireland because all these counties seem to lay relatively close to one another. As for the Kerrs being Catholic although Scottish we used to have a parish priest in St. Louis named Father Lietram who was from Scotland. Although not the most popular religion in Scotland, it did exist there despite persecutions from both the Church of England and the Presbyterians. I guess that made them the types of rebels the Irish could really relate to and chances are the English were happy to have them out of Scotland and in Ireland where they could have all their rebels in one spot and therefore easier to watch over. An interesting sidenote to this conversation. I went to the University of Missouri at Columbia in the late seventies and early eighties and had a friend named Dan Briggs. One night we went out for a couple of beers and he made the remark that he wished he had a book his uncle owned about the history of Maries County. I told him my dad's family was from Maries County and his mother's name was Grant but she was also descended from McKeevers. Turns out that we were distantly related. Small world after all.
