    3. The following information is taken from my data base of 84,000 folks in Osage Co MO and (Maries County bef 1851), including every marriage in the county before 1940, and every individual found in county records before 1870. (the current project is to extract the 1880 census of Osage county. I do monitor the Maries County web site and am always glad to exchange information with family genealogist. George W. Martin married first 11 Oct 1840 in Gasconade Co MO to Mary Ann Vaughan. (the earlier 1836 marriage to Polly Cowen is to the widow Polly Cowen to another George Martin) George W. Martin is in the 1840 census of Gasconade Co MO page 10. with new bride. Living next to her family. George and Mary Ann had two children. William b. 1841 and James b. 1843. (this is James Oliver under discussion) George was widowed and married second to Louisa Atkinson 1 May 1846 in Osage Co MO. They had son John b. 1847 and Lucinda b. 1849. the Mother Louisa Atkinson Martin died Feb 1850. In the 1850 census Osage co MO Jackson Twp Fam #178 (quite possibly near present day Tavern MO) George Martin 28 b. NC is widowed again with his children William age 9 , James age 7. John age 3 and Lucinda age 1. he married the third time to Nancy Hughes, 2 Nov 1850 in Osage Co MO. and a daughter Louisa born 1852. This Louisa is named as an heir of Elijah Breeding. and given as daughter of Lucinda Breeding. Widowed he married for the 4th time to Elizabeth Breeding, 10 Nov 1854 in Osage Co MO.(Bray in marriage record? had Elizabeth married earlier or was Breeding just shortened to Bray) and had children, Leander, Elijah T. and Benjamin, all named in her father Elijah Breeding's will. George 37 TN, and His fourth wife Elizabeth b. 35 TN show up in the 1860 census Maries co MO Miller Twp Fam # 195: all children accounted for. James 17, William 19 next door. Louisa 9, and Leander 4 , Elijah 3 and Benjamin 1. By 1870 census Elizabeth is widowed living with father. Glad to provide sources and ancestors to any descendant. Error comes from early genealogies that confused the George Martin's. and one that gave this James to a John wife unknown? (the children named as siblings all belong to George W. Martin from census data.) There were 17 men named George Martin born in the 1800's in my data base. Also in 1880 census James O. Martin says his father born in GA. However even George seemed confused as to where he was born? NC TN? so find me a John Martin born in GA with son James b. in 1843 and I'll rethink my position. As a matter of fact the only John Martin that could be a father of James, was in Ark in 1844 having son Stephen. Glad Shirley pointed out the error, Peggy Hake is a GREAT resource for Miller County Missouri, and I know we all appreciated the stories that fill in the blanks from the names and dates that comprised most of what we have about our ancestors.
