D., would be greatly appreciated. I'll share what information I have. John Edwin Black, M. D. (son of John Blair Black) born 4/3/1848 in Newberry, SC, (chief surgeon and Chief of Staff, Memphis City hospital) died. 3/9/1898, in Memphis, TN. Any information on Kerr would be most appreciated. Mary Frances "Dolly" Kerr, born 1850 in St. Joseph MO, died 1884. Their only known surviving child was Nannie Kerr Black, born 12/27/1877 in Kerrville TN, died 4/17/1955 in Sumter, SC, married Edward Simons Booth, M. D., on 4/16/1901. (They had three children, Edward, Jr., Nancy and James Rolfe.) Some other Kerr family names: 1. Maria Henderson Kerr, married George Gillham on 6/21/1871. 2. Robert Penniston Kerr, married Mattie Merritt Lloyd on 10/1887. 3. John Kelly Kerr, Jr. (6/10/1854-1914), married Bettie Paul. 4. Bessie Gillham Kerr (1/21/1883-2/2/1923), married William Augustus McClendon (10/27/1877-12/25/1924), at Whitton AK. (Possibly children are: John Wiley, b. 7/17/1902; Wm. Augustus, Jr., b.3/27/1904; Paul Penniston; Joe Mayo; Bruce Reed; James Ocey; Betty Jane [adopted by Garris McLesery]; Barbara Fay [adopted by J. A. Mooring].) 5. Martha Jane "Mattie" Kerr (1/28/1857-3/19/1929), married Robert Mayo Rolfe. (Possible child: Robert Lawrence Rolfe, b. 12/4/1887, married Mary Price on 3/23/1915, whose possible child: Robert Lawrence, Jr. b. 6/4/1916.) (Other possible children of Robert Mayo Rolfe: Gillham Rolfe, 3/9/1892 [m. Leonora Hunt]; Gladys James Rolfe 8/29/1894 [m. George Henry Keeler, born Dec. 1894 in Memphis, their child: George Henry Keeler, Jr., b. 7/28/1918]; and Nine Kerr Rolfe, 1/27/1897, married Ludwell Brook Alexander, born 12/25/1880, New York City, possible children: Ludwell Mayo Alexander, born 3/17/24; and Beverly, born 9/13/1927.) 6. William Hart Kerr(born: 1860), married Annie (children: Susan, John, Ersel, Maria, Joseph.) 7. Bennet Littleton Kerr (layer and judge, Memphis, TN.) His son John Samuel Kerr (practiced law in Memphis, TN.) 8. William Dabney Kerr (died in Memphis), married Susan Buckles in 1837. 9. Edward Monroe Kerr, married Lucy Van Metre (children: Mary [teacher in Washington, D.C.], Lucy Van, Lizzie, and Mollie Kerr who married John Brown [children: Hart and Mary Bell Brown].) 10. Andrew Hart Kerr married (1) Clarissa Van Horn in 1837, and (2) Mary Ward in 1848. (One daughter was named Clarissa Kerr.) 11. Sara Elizabeth Caroline Kerr married William Thompson, 8/9/1814.
