MABEL BARNHART Mabel Ella Barnhart, 95, of St. Elizabeth, formerly of Meta, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000 at St. Elizabeth Care Center. She was born in Meta on Sept. 22, 1905, a daughter of Rudolph and Sarah Ann (Seaton) Ripka. On April 4, 1922, in Maries County, she was married to Oda Barnhart, who preceded her in death on Aug. 4, 1994. A homemmaker, she farmed with her husband in the Van Cleve community. She was a member of the Campground Christian Church near Van Cleve. Those who survive her include: one grandson, Larry Barnhart of Dixon; one granddaughter, Paula Hughes of Dixon; 9 great-grandchildren, Rex Barnhart of Holts Summit, Jamie Barnhart of Dixon, Christofer, Nicholas and Sarah Howe of Dixon, Brandon, Travis and Amy Veasman of Dixon, and Doug Hughes Jr., of Dixon; four great-great-grandchildren, Ashley Barnhart of Holts Summit and Cory York, Gavin Barnhart and Kelsey Veasman, all of Dixon. Two sons preceded her in death: Bobby Mural Branhart at birth and Kelles Earl Barnhart in 1981. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, James Earl Barnhart in 1967. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000 at Rekus Funeral Home in Meta with Rev. Manuel Seaton officiating. Interment was in Stokes Cemetery near Meta. Memorial Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
