MARY GRANT Mary "Bunk" Glovena Grant, 71, of Meta, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at her son's home in St. Charles. She was born in New Florence on April 11, 1929, a daughter of Clem and Claire (Potterbaum) Nothstine. On June 7, 1945, in St. Louis, she was married to Howard Herman Grant, who preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1997. She was a bus driver for the Orchard Farm School District of St. Charles County until her retirement. She moved from St. Charles to Meta in 1984. A homemaker, she was a volunteer at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home in St. Elizabeth, with the Meta Fire and Rescue Comm-Unity Ambulance, and fund-raising activities for St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Meta. She was a member of the Meta Quilters and the Meta Civic League. Those who survive her include: two daughters, Margaret Seats and Reta Lauer, both of St. Charles; four sons, George Grant, Vernon Grant, Vincent Grant and Robert Grant, all of St. Charles; one sister, Viola Lubin of Creve Coeur; two brothers, Ben Nothstine of St. Charles and Jay Nothstine of Aurora, CO; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A brother, George Northstine(sic) and a sister, Leona Levertt, preceded her in death. Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 9, at Rekus Funeral Home in Meta with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Manuel Seaton officiated. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Meta Fire and Rescue Comm-Unity Ambulance, Southside Cemetery, or Meta Civic League.
