H. J. MAYER Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth for the former pastor, the Rev. Herman J. Mayer. The Rev. A. J. Hoegen of Immaculate Conception Parish at Loose Creek officiated. Interment was made in the parish cemetery at St. Elizabeth. Father Mayer was born Sept. 17, 1887 in Wisconsin. He became pastor at St. Elizabeth in 1929 serving until his retirement this summer but remaining in the parish. He had been in failing health for a number of years but it was not until Saturday, Sept 26 that he entered St. Mary's hospital at Jefferson City where death came Wednesday, Sept 30.
