Graham was struck down and killed by an unidentified vehicle which hit from behind while he was walking west on Route 28, near the Bland park, just west of town. The accident occurred about 10 p.m., the patrol said. He had been in a Bland tavern and left about 8:45 p.m., according to Ralph Branson, city marshal. He was found lying in the middle of the highway and was rushed by ambulance to the Rolla hopsital. He was believed to have died before the ambulance reached Belle. His body was broken and bruised and the clothing covered with motor oil, leading authorities to believe he was run down by an old model auto. A heavy fog held close to the ground over the area at the time of the accident. "Wennie" as he had been nicknamed in grade school, was born at Owensville, April 29, 1927, a son of Roscoe and Ethel (Maples) Graham. He was baptized into the Christian Church at Belle at the age of 10. He was employed laying the foundation for the new elementary school under construction at Belle. Surviving are the parents, Mr and Mrs Roscoe Graham, with whom he made his home; four brothers and three sisters, Ed Graham, Belle; Mrs. Wilma Jean Bogle, Jefferson City; Mrs. Doris Knott, Belle; Mac Lee Graham and Mrs. Peggie Morrison, Owensville; Randall and Mike Graham of the home.
