Yoakum Funeral services were conducted at the New Salem Baptist Church last Wednesday afternoon for Jesse T. Yoakum with the Rev. Ernest Cox officiating. Interment was at the Williams Cemetery. Mr. Yoakum was born June 13, 1878 on the family farm and spent his entire life there. He was married to Edith L. Fritchey November 27, 1914 and to this union eight children were born two of them whom preceeded him in death: Bennett at the age of 17 years in 1944 and Lucille, also 17, in 1951. He is survived by his wife and the following sons and daughters: Willard of Rolla, Willie, George and Simon of Dixon, Martha Messersmith and Evelyn Blankenship, also of Dixon. He also leaves 14 grandchildren and four sisters who are Ollie Slone and Mary Kelley of Springfield, Mo., Micha Jones and Cora Kelley of Dixon. (In the same paper, is a follow on article in the New Salem column) We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family of Jesse T. Yoakum.
