THOMAS GEHLERT Thomas Eugene Gehlert, of Belle, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 1995 at 11:45 p.m. He was the son of the late John Edward Gehlert and Laura Ida Danuser Gehlert of Belle. He was born February 1, 1933. He and Virginia Arnold were united in marriage on July 20, 1959. Together they raised seven children. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He had lived in Belle all of his life. He served as Maries County Eastern District Commissioner in 1992 to 1994. He was baptised by his brother Gary Gehlert of the Liberty Church of Christ in Belle. He is survived by his wife Virginia of Belle; seven children Clarence Edward Cooksey of Belle, Billy Gene Cooksey of Bland, Micheal Cooksey with his wife Diane of Washington, Deborah Lynn Sherman with her husband Bill Ed of Vichy, Laura Kay Gehlert with Bruce Bradford, Thomas Keith Gehlert with his wife Tricia and Mark Todd Gehlert with his wife Gloria of Belle; his mother Laura I. Gehlert of Belle; one sister Nadine White of Belle; eight brothers, Alfred, Lee, Connie, Pete, Jim, Gary and Bob of Belle and Ronnie of Bland; 11 grandchildren, Samantha, Trisha, Christina and Tiffany Cooksey of Winfield, Sabrina and Melanie Cooksey of Licking, Jennifer and Amanda Cooksey of Washington, T.C. Thompson and Joseph Sherman of Vichy and Chelsea Bradford of Belle. He is preceded in death by his father, John Edward Gehlert; one brother, Charles Leon (Butch) Gehlert, and one sister, Delores Faye White. Funeral services were held the following Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Belle. Bro. Phillip Rector offciated. Interment was in the LIberty Church of Christ Cemetery.
