    3. Part 2 Forwarded by the ListAdmin for: schleij@execpc.com More Rollins Info: The David Rollins Family, David Rollins was born in Tenn. about 1823. He married Rutha Carter, about 1841. They came to Missouri in the early 1840's with John Kelley and Levi Carter families. John Kelley was married to Sarah Carter, sister to Rutha and daughter of Levi. They went first to Franklin Co., Pulaski Co., and then settled in Maries Co., in the 1860's. David and Rutha had six children, Martha, George, Courtney, Joseph, Jerry and Susan. Martha married John Watson: George married Robert Davidson: Joseph married Elmina Beaverett: Jerry married Mary Ann Susan Adkission: Susan married Decator Kelley. After Rutha died, David married her sister, Rachel Carter. David and Rachel had eight children. William T., Mary, Emiline, Sarah, Melvina, Morris, Daniel and Jacob. William T. married Cora Groves: Mary married Jessee Kuhns: Emilne, Sarah, and Melvina died young; Morris married Sarah Matthews; Daniel married Della Rider and Jacob married 1. Lettie McKnoll and 2. Audie Goddard. My great Grandfather Jerry Rollins left Maries Co. as a young man and went into Indian territory, now Oklahoma. He married a quarter blood Cherokee, Mary Ann Susan Adkisson October 25, 1884 in Tahlcquah, They made their home in Clairemore and had ten children. George, Courtney Joseph and Daniel also left Maries CO. and went into Indian Territory. David Rollins homesteaded 160 acres in Miller Township, section 14. He was a farmer and built a log house on his land. David Rollins died 12/4/1893 in Maries CO. and is buired in Fairview Cemetery. Rachel Rollins died Feb. 3, 1912. David's son Jacob lived on the homestead most of his life. The land is still in the Rollins family. David's grandaughter, Cora Dale Rollins and her husband Charlie Sherrel bought the property. The house no longer is there. Sterling Kelley, grandson of John Kelley, went into the old home place and sent me a chip of wood from the log house built by David Rollins. It is one of my most prized possessions. There are three deeds, I Valorie am in possion of two, The records: containing 80 acers and 42 1/2 acers. Dated 9/20/1871 filed for record on 1/15/1875 recorded in bok K on page 367. As of 1822, he was also known as DAVIS, DAVID ROLLINS David Marries Rutha and issues six children. Rutha dies 1855-1859. David then marries Rachel, Rutha's sister and issues eight more children. ; David dies with out a will and the land becomes the ownership of his children, his wife and lists the grand children as sole heirs if the parents have passed on. I have the pantent record as well. Kelley Line: Indian Application Rachel Carter Rollins reports in a application to the Indian Nation, Cherokee Citizenship (Application # 1024) September 1896, (__) anything in parenthesis is unreadable. The appplication reads. "Personally appear before me a notary republic of Pulaski cCo. State of MO. one Rachel Rollins stating that her father Levi Carter was born in the state of Tenisee in about the year 1795, near the Cherokee Nation and was married to Elizabeth Howard in about 1815, (actual date was 7/13/1816). in or near the Cherokee Nation and lived in Bledsoe Co. Ten. untill 1844 when he with all children started west to the suposed Cherokee Nation and was stoped in Franklin Co. Mo. by sickness and then he died. Which stoped the farther west ward move. I remember that when the Indians left Tenisee (actual spelling) of their stoping at fathers house sometime one or two days. And I remember of father and mother talking of Nation and the Indians and I further state that George Rollins and Jospeh and Jermiah Rollins and the said Louis Kelley are cousins their mother being daughter of Levi Carter and Elizabeth Carter. Rutha Carter married to David Rollins in 1841. Sarah Carter was married to John Kelley in 1837 and it is the same Levi Carter that his name come on the Role of the Cherokee Nation by (_?_) of then friendly relation in Tenisee. Witnesses Sarah J. Mitchill, Robert F. Mckinzee (?) Rachel X Rollins (her mark) subscribed and sworn to beofre me on this 1st day of September 1896. F.S.
