Several folks have asked for more info on my COPELANDs. Sorry for not providing more specifics, but I'm in the middle of law school finals and I'm a bit pooped. I have little info on these COPELANDs of mine. This past summer I have been able to contact a non-internet connected COPELAND cousin who confirmed the connection of my Sarah (aka Lura) COPELAND (wife of Joseph Marion STRAIN) to Joseph and Martha ???. Some info I have seen indicates that it is Martha GREENAWALT, but I have not been able to confirm this. Joseph STRAIN b 1844 in Marion Co., IN died 1897ish Vernon Co., MO Sarah COPELAND STRAIN b ca1842 in Maries Co. d after 1900, Vernon Co. MO The had seven children with only two living to maturity. Louisa m. William N. GRAY in Vernon Co., MO (I forget the date). Louisa died about 1903. The STRAIN family in eastern MO tried to get the kids, William relocated to Iowa. James Joseph Henry STRAIN b 1876 Vernon Co., MO d 1933 Montgomery Co., MO m1. 1897ish Lydia BURNSWORTH Vernon Co. MO div. 1898, m2. 1903 Montgomery Co., MO to Lucy Ann JENKINS of Adrain Co., MO (1868-1923), m3. Susie ??? ca 1928 Joseph and Martha? moved the family to Vernon Co. from Maries/Osage Co., about 1868. The nfo I have shows Sarh "Lura" Copeland STRAIN's eldest sibling Mahala m. Riley EADS born in 1826. So I would guess, if that date is correct, that my Joseph COPELAND was born 1800-1805. I have some more info somewhere, but with school and all I've buried it somewhere. In short, my Joseph COPELAND was born 1800-1805 (guesstimate). Hope this narrows it down for you COPELAND experts.
