Parks, J. Parks, C. Parks, W. Parks, V. Parks and M. Parks, The children were all born in Kentucky. By 1860 most of them are in Maries County, Missouri: David James Parks has married Prudence Curtis by this time. They have 3 children: Sarah, William and Mary Parks. They probably moved to Maries County about 1857 when David James Parks received his Land Patent. They later went to Macon County, Missouri and are there by 1870. By this time they have children: Sarah, James, Mary, Marth, Charles, Julia, Jenette and Geo. Any information about this Parks / Curtis family would be helpful and appreciated. For all Maries County Researchers -- Long time Circuit Clerk Leo Thompson passed away this morning. If you ever searched in the clerks office looking for deeds or help on a family, you probably got to meet Leo. Leo was a genealogically friendly clerk, something you don't always find. He retired in 2006 or 2007. He will be missed. Judy

Ellie: If you will note, I did not mention any info regarding the Maries Co History. This is what was posted on the Maries Co Board dated 28 Jan 2008: Sometime back, a researcher was asking about a Sarah Beesley/Beasley. I found the following marriage recorded in Phelps Co, MO: (Phelps Co marriages 1857-1910) Mrs. Sarah Beesley, age 22, married Thomas Creekpaum, age 34 on 20 Jan.1890, married at Jas. Ferrell's. Sarah and Thomas were both from Safe, Maries Co, MO. What's interesting, is it shows James Copeland as father of Sarah, even though Sarah is over the age of 18. (Book B, page 111) Thomas Jefferson Creekpaum, born 2 Jul 1855, in Indiana, died 27 Sep 1919 in Fort Smith, AR. He married first, Elizabeth Fann, daughter of Gabriel . Sarah Rosanne Beesley , born 16 Jan 1867, died 4 Apr 1957 in Hominy, OK Would like to know who Sarah's lst husband was. Have connections with the Creekpaum and Fann families. ------------------------------------ I am not in the habit of posting info that has not been documented. I would like to respond to "Blackw146" about the names of BEASLEY, CREEKPAUM, COPELAND that are posted on the Rootsweb message board.. which for some reason I can't access the board at this time????? I have info and am quite familiar with the names above. They are connected to/with my great grandmother Arlevia (Stump) Lemon's since her half sisters (their surnames were Beasley) married into these families. "Blackw145" mentioned some info in the Maries Co. history book, but be careful... there is a BIG error on the elder James Beasley line.. He was married to a Sarah who died after several children.. Then he married my gg grandmother, Sarah Jane (Rogers) Stump, a young widow. They had 3 more girls; thus that doesn't read correctly in the Maries Co. history book.. OH, MY, OH, MY the errors that get passed on INCORRECTLY.. !!!!!!! Once I saw that misinformation, I called the lady who wrote it.. She didn't know that elder James Beasley had been married twice.. As you can see, both wives were named Sarah.. I still have a family history to correct on Alexander Stinson Rogers that is written in Mr. King's book. Alexander did NOT have a daughter who m. a Crain.. that name was in his wife's family.. However Alexander S,. Rogers' eldest daughter (she was left off in Mr. King's book) was SARAH JANE ROGERS (named above in the Beasley story) who was born in 1829 in Tennessee. She m. (1) ca. 1849 to James Perry Stump (b. Virginia) in Osage Co. MO where her father was a judge. (They were my gg grandparents)... The intestate settlement of ASR estate makes it very clear that she was a daughter... AND... I have an original copy of the newpaper obituary of her death in early 1900s where her parents are named; she is buried.. (Dillon Cem. - Maries Co.) So would "Blackw146" please contact me at .. [email protected] I would be happy to help. Ellie

This land appears to be in present day Osage county - Range 7 west is the eastern border of Maries, but Twp 43 is north of Maries. I have the land descriptions from Williams estate papers, they are in the western half of Maries county.
