Another thing that has me puzzled is why was he working as a farmhand for Ramsey in 1860 if he had 200 acres of land of his own? Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper - 1973: " Maries Circuit Clerk Dies at Hospital" " Frank L. Hodge, 74, Vienna, died Friday at a Jefferson City Hospital. he was circuit clerk and recorder of Maries County. He was born Sept. 7, 1889 in Vichy, the son of William Lee and Sylvia Light Hodge. His wife, Almeta Hodge, died in April 1941. Mr. Hodge attended schools in Maries County and St. James. He also attended Lincoln University and the University of Missouri in Columbia. Mr. Hodge was a teacher until 1943 when he became superintendent of schools for Maries County. In 1966 he was elected circuit clerk and recorder for Maries County, a post he held until his death. Mr. Hodge was also a member of the Vienna Masonic Lodge. Survivors include: two sons, James Hodge, Mesa, Arizona; and William Hodge, Vienna; three brothers, John Hodge and Austin Hodge, both of Rolla; and Robert Hodge, Detroit, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Spencer, St. Louis, and Mrs. Ann Penney, state of Florida; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday at the Vienna United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carl Baldwin officiating. Burial was in the Macedonia Cemetery, Rolla."
Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper - 1971: " Mr. Peter James Haggerty died at his home in Linn Tuesday, February 16 (1971) following a lengthy illness at the age of 74 years. Mr. Haggerty was born April 18, 1896 in Vienna, Missouri, the son of David Haggerty and Anna Redel Haggerty. He was married on February 9th, 1920 to the former Miss Clora Gray, who survives. He was engaged in farming and stock raising until his retirement. Mr. Haggerty was a member of the armed forces during World War I and a member of the St. George Catholic Church, Linn. Other survivors include: one son, Dr. Clemmen E. Haggerty, Lake Ozark, Mo.; three daughters, Mrs. Henry Gentges, Linn; Mrs. Gene Parker and Mrs. Marvin Buescher, both of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Henry Reichel, Freeburg, Mo.; and fourteen grandchildren. Services will be held at the Vienna Catholic Church in Vienna, Missouri Friday morning, February 19. Rosary will be recited Thursday at Morton Chapel, Linn. Burial will be in Vienna Cemetery."

She was born in Meta on August 15, 1918, daughter of the late George Gilbert and Mary Roberta (Helton) Vaughan. On November 4, 1935, in Vienna, Viola married Emmett R. Pendleton, who preceded her in death on August 20, 1998. She worked for 28 years at the Dixon Shoe Factory and other shoe factories in Belle, Bland, and Owensville. Viola was a member of the Campground Christian Church near Meta. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and her sister-in-law, Oma Vaughan of Jefferson City. She was also preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters, Wm. (Hood) Vaughan, Rainey Vaughan, Ray Vaughan, Johnny Vaughan, Willard Vaughan, Mina (Wells) McClary, LouElla (Barnhart) Sassler, Nettie Jurgens, Tillie Kinkead, Hazel Moeckli, Hester Wilson, and Leona (Roberts) Pippins. He was born at Vichy on December 16, 1906, the son of Charley and Francis Hart Gray. He was married on May 23, 1936 at Vienna to Gladys Davis, who survives. Other survivors are a step-son, Pete Shivers, Vienna; and two sisters, Mrs. Mamie Shaw, of Leslie and Elsie Gray of Fulton. He live his entire life in Maries County near Vichy where he farmed except for a short time when he was employed by a railroad in Newburg. He was a member of the Church of Christ. The funeral was held on Monday, June 24, from the Birmingham Funeral Home with the Rev. Orville Elrod officiating. Burial was in the Snodgrass Cemetery."

Obit., mid-Missouri newspaper - 1972: "Funeral services were held today (Thursday) at Stevinson Chapel in Iberia for Mrs. Nettie Farrow, of near Iberia. Mrs. Farrow, 887, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 29, 1972, at a hospital in Fulton. She had lived around St. Elizabeth and Iberia all of her life. She was born July 1, 1885 in Maries County near Van Cleve, the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Copeland) Lawson. On March 7, 1909, she was married to John W. Farrow who died Jan. 23, 1952. Three sons had also preceded Mrs. Farrow in death: Johnnie in 1927 at the age of 13; William in 1940 at the age of 27; and Henry in 1965. Mrs. Farrow was a member go the Humphrey's Creek Christian Church. She is survived by one son, Wayne Farrow of Iberia; one sister, Mrs. Eva Machon of Dixon; one brother, Owen Lawson of Dixon; 12 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. The Rev. Mark Sooter officiated at the funeral services. Burial was in the Jim Matt Lawson cemetery in Maries County. Grandsons served as pallbearers."

She died December 29, 1972. He was a veteran of World War I. Survivors include nieces, nephews and cousins.
