    3. Have you thought of trying the state board of education? They might be hard to deal with, but maybe someone there has archival information about old schools. 3. GNIS lists 4 Dutch Hollows in MO. They are in Franklin, Shannon, Perry, and St. Louis counties. I don't see any Dutch Hollow Schools, but I'm sure there were plenty of them. I'm sure there were also more Dutch Hollows in MO than the 4 listed. I sure wish we could locate that one, but we need more information or need to run into the right person. 3. Dear DeVere Whitaker: I would like to thank you for your time and generosity in providing another site and source for all of us to partake and enjoy another piece of history.....Although there may not be any famliy of mine on the new site, I will visit it just to read about the historical moments. I was never a very good student in my youth with respect to history as it was so dull, just dates and events.....since I began my trek to find my ancestors, I have learned more about history of the United States, its people, land and wars than I ever dreamed because now its real, there are faces of people and their lives are entwined and that matters alot......... Its folks like you and the love of genealogy that makes all this worth while.......... 3. LIST, I have started a web page for Peggy Hake. I don't know what I'm doing but bear with me for a while. Peggy Smith Hake is to Miller County what Dr. King was to Maries County. She knows about everybody in the surrounding counties and does not limit her research to just Miller County where she lives. She has written articles for two news papers for years and has published several history books. I will have an on going change of articles in this web page. At the top of the web page you will see: My Content / My Hobbies / Others / etc. The articles are stored under the ones marked "OTHERS". Just click on each one these and you will find a story, obit, family history, county history etc. There are only stories under the first three right now but I will be adding more daily or so. I need a few hits on the web page to keep it active. You must be online of course. The URL address is: http://members.tripod.com/devere8/

LIST: When I see a query come to the list about a Henson/Hinson or from a Henson, it reminds me of a story about my dad and Jack Henson when they lived next to each other in Myerstown, near the Wheeler School. Jack and his wife,"Aunt Annie" as everyone called her, were getting old and had decided to quit farming and move to Owensville Mo. They were auctioning off all their stuff. They had a an old mare horse that was real old and no one would bid on her. The auctioner said " I'll bet Harden Whitaker will bid something for this old horse." Dad bid "One Dollar". "Sold" was the reply. >From that day forward, no one could remember that old horse's name. She was simply known as the "Dollar Mare". That horse lived forever. My brothers rode that old horse everywhere and dad plowed the Asa Rowden place with her for years. Mom & dad lived in the Jack Henson place after they moved to Owensville. Jack & Annie had a real nice home in Owensville but one day they were having some holiday event over there and they had parachute jumpers has an attraction. One of the jumpers chute did not open and his body went through the roof of Jack & Annie's new home. I'll bet they wished they were back over at Wheeler. DeVere
