    1. [MOMARIES] Telithea Martin & David Edward Cowen, Sr. Children
    2. In a message dated 2/25/2001 10:49:34 PM Central Standard Time, Esta714@aol.com writes to MOMARIES-L@rootsweb.com: << David Edward Cowen Jr. b 1853 d 1919 Mar #1 Elizabeth Pendleton, #2 Annie ?, #3 Tennie M. ? >> >From Everett M. King "History of Maries County," Ramfre Press, Cape Girardeau, MO, (pp 372-373) David Cowan Junior, spent most of his life in Maries and Osage counties and died there. King writes that his (David Cowan) first wife was Eliza, daughter of George Pendleton, and the four children born to them were Frank, Azariah, Etta, and Lottie. Does anybody have the marriage date for David Cowen, Jr., wife #1 Elizabeth Pendleton. There was an Elizabeth Pendleton who was the daughter of George W. Pendleton and she was 9 years old in 1860. She is not in the George Pendleton household in 1870. Unless Elizabeth/Eliza and Anna are the same person, there appears to be a discrepancy. According to Maries County marriage records, and Maries County 1870 Census records, David Cowan's wife was Anna Pendleton (daughter of George Pendleton). Maries County marriage records show that David Cowan married Anna Pendleton on June 25, 1873, in Maries County, MO by David S. Woody: Indx To Marriage Book "A" Maries County, MO 1868 - 1881 (p. 80). Of the 4 children King writes about, Frank was born 1874 and Azariah was born 1876 so these two children of David Cowan would have been the children of his wife Anna Pendleton. I have nothing of David's children Etta and Lottie and they are not enumerated in the 1880 census. Did David Cowen, Jr., marry Elizabeth Pendleton before 1870 and did Elizabeth and these two children Etta and Lottie die before 1873? I could sure use the help if anybody has this information. The #3 wife listed for David Cowen, Jr., who goes by the name Tennie M., is Tennessee M. Barnhart (born 1851). She is the daughter of Henry Barnhart and Jane Wilson. She married (1) Azariah B. Pendleton May 16, 1871. He is the son of George Pendleton and Elizabeth Green. Tennessee M. (Barnhart) Pendleton's husband Azariah Pendleton died Sept 11, 1888. After Anna (Pendleton) Cowan died Jan 15, 1911, David married Azariah Pendleton's widow Tennessee M. (Barnhart) Pendleton. George Pendleton and his son Azariah and daughter Anna are all buried in Stokes Cemetery. Anna is buried beside David Cowan, Jr., (but his headstone states "Husband of Tennie M"). Azariah Pendleton and his wife Tennessee M. Pendleton are buried beside George Pendleton and his wife Elizabeth Green (but Tennessee's headstone states Tennessee M. Cowan). If anybody has the marriage information for Elizabeth Pendleton and David Cowan, Jr., I would sure appreciate that. Bob Prater, Tulsa

    3. Hello everyone, Because of many illnesses in my family for the past several years, I have haphazardly done genealogy when I could find time, in fact still that way, my mom has Alzhmiers, my mother in law finally died a year ago from it and my father in law is 93, in a wheelchair and with all the problems of his age, and now his mind is starting to go as well. So if I don't say thank you or answer, just bear with me. I decided I had to clean up some of my mess and I'm doing great, but found I have emails with so much information dating back to 99 that I have never gotten entered in the computer, corrections additions etc and that stack is litterly a contineous feed paper box full, so roughly 2000/2500 sheets of paper. Then there is about a box and a half full of just down loads that people have sent me. I have started thru the email, it took me all day to do 30 pages, but straigtned out several families with all your help, now I'm hoping that someone else hasn't come along later and said this is wrong, but you all know how that goes. And in the mean time the emails have opened up many more questions, that's an eek! I have enough to do, so will hold the questions for later. But I just wanted you all to know how much I appreciate all of you. Most of you I am related to somewhere along the line by blood or marriage, sometimes it gets really convoluted but it's there. It's wonderful they way you all kick in to help the rest of us. So Love to you all, Maggi (for those of you who don't know, if there is an Eads, Simpson, Kegans, Burtcher(by various spellings) or Hayden, and you know they are related to everyone, that's me)

    3. Good Morning Judy: Do you think you could find any information on Edward and Carrie Hubbard who are buried in the Public Cemetary next to Visitation? I stumbled across them last Monday while I was there and was wondering if that could be my dad's Uncle Ed who disappeared from St. Louis sometime after 1910. My visit to Visitation and Owens Cemetary were very enlightening and I did manage to hook up with my dad's cousing Clem Schulte in Argyle.
