I have worked some on Maries County: My Great Grand Uncle Henry Matthew Behm lived in Maries county with his wife Bertha and brother John Behm (Behm, Bëhm, Böhm). Their son Francis married Elizabeth Coffey, daughter of Hiram Kinzey Coffey. >From what I have been able to piece together, Hiram was the sone of Campbell Coffey and Caroline Eads, d. of Benjamin Eads. Hiram also had a sister named Mary who married W. N. Copeland. >From what I can see the Eads and Copeland families open up a large part of Maries County! Is anyone actively working on these connections? I have info on the Behm's back to Bohemia and their early arrival in St. Louis. As a second item to solve an arguement with my wife is Maries pronounced Marys or Maries? Bob Berg Visit my web site at: http://members.tripod.com/rhberg1940

I have conflicting information on Benjamin F. Branson Born 16 Jul 1882 (or 1883) and died 15 Jun 1962 Does anyone know who this man¹s parents are and who he married? I am wondering if there are two Benjamin F. Branson¹s who were born at about the same time. Any help appreciated. Thanks very much. Melinda

Have Ben with no dates son of Reuben and Sarah Chrisman, but as Sarah was born about 1821, I doubt this is the right person, then Ben born 12 Feb 1859 son of James and Sarah "Sallie" Bumpass, these last two are comtempory I would guess. Glad you enjoyed the venture and it was productive for you. Quentin enjoys sharing history of the area with others who are interested as I am sure you noticed. He and I went all through school together and today he looks after the farms I grew up on, keeping them in some order and pasturing some cattle there. I suggest you keep his e-mail handy as you might want to ask future questions. Regards, Lonnie J. Blackwell

Lonnie, Thank you so much for giving us Quentin Davis as a contact. He was so very helpful. We were able to drive right to the area Norm's gggrandparents lived. He could tell us who lived there a hundred and fifty years ago and who lives there now! We also drove down to Bell Chute Access which was very close to the land Norm's ggrandparents owned until 1860. Such a pretty drive and nice park area, too. That was a surprise. We were fortunate to find a deed for the sale by Norm's ggrandparents of the land on the river in 1860, so with the deed and Quentin's directions we were in good shape. Much appreciated! The house that James Breeding and Louisa (Scott)Breeding lived in is still standing. If you stand on the Hwy 42 bridge across the Little Tavern Creek face south (upstream)and look to your left, 2 hills back. My grandfather(mothers side) Isaac Renfrow bought it in the 1920s a nephew of mine Kieth Lekey now owns it.it says on the cornerstone that it was built in 1904 (the 4 is backward) Louisa Scott Breeding is buried in the Dixon Cem. next to her father William Henry Scott. William Henry Scott was my GGGrandfather on my fathers side so I have a double connection to the house. Was Emily from Jame's marriage to Lucinda or Louisa? Lucinda was a sister to my GGrandfather, James Miller. James had a son Monroe who married Queen Elizabeth Foley. My father, Cleve Miller, is their son. He still lives in Missouri on his farm and will be 97 tomorrow.
