Steven, I am glad you did. I should not have replied before checking it out. I was in a hurry to get out the door. It is not good for the pastor/preacher to be late for the first service. Since that time I have checked ebay and names and approximate dates match our family. Will do more checking. Thank you. I will call Mozell. Jim the chagrinned
Jim, I have the same situation with my Battenfeld/Potterfield line. However, I hope you looked at the site that had it for sale. It had Revolution Era Hutchinsons. Which still might be something. I just like to hollar at folks when during my research ,I run accross something that they might want. Ebay is a good place to shop for county, surname and family heirlooms. Steven, Thanks for the tip on the Hutchinson Family Bible. However, I believe you have the wrong family. According to one family oral history, our family dropped the "n" at the beginning of the American Revolution. The "n," as the story goes, was dropped to show the break in the family as well as the home country. When Governor Hutchinson went back to England the our family used the Scottish spelling. I have that William Massey born 1845 and Eliza E. Crismon born 1855, married on 3 Oct 1872 Maries Co MO. Children were Ray, Waldo, Sylvia, and Arthur Brance or Arthur Branford. Does anyone know whether the son was named Arthur Brance Massey or Arthur Branford Massey (or is it possible those are two different children)? Also, is this William Massey the son of William Massey born 1805 who married Elizabeth Hill 1825?? My info says this elder William Massey and Elizabeth Hill had children: Thomas b 1829 married Tabitha, Charles L. b 1843, and William JR b 1846. Anyway, I would appreciate any help on these Massey¹s. Sometimes it is spelled Massie. Thanks---Melinda

--------- Forwarded message ---------- From: "healern" <healern@msn.com> Hello Karen, Your Catherine Shanks may be a sister to my gggrandfather, Joseph E. Shanks. According to census data, my Catherine was born abt. 1835 in TN. The next child was born 1837 in MO. We estimated that they moved to MO abt 1836. There were 13 children. Joseph also had a brother named George Washington Shanks, and a sister Maryann. That's a lot of similarities. Do you know the name of your Catherine's parents or siblings? I have quite a bit of info on this line, but not Catherine's spouse. Looking forward to hearing from you, Laura Hayes healern@msn.co m ----- Original Message ----- From: <kleatyme@hotmail.com> > My gr. great grandmother was Catharine Shanks said to be born in Knoxville, Tn about 1834. Robert Russell James, b. 18 Apr 1856, d. 16 Oct 1937, Maries county MO, was son of George James and Sarah Lavinia Courtney. According to King, she was first married to Samuel Shinkle. George was son of John James, who came from TN. John's first wife was thought by King to possibly be a sister to George Moreland. Some of this info is from King's History of Maries County, and there is also a great piece in the History of Maries County, volume III, which was written by the late Kilby Jones, also a descendant. It has photos of Robert and Flora and their family. I should tell you that I have taken this information from many sources, but have not proved it completely as it is not my line.
