Shirley: I ran across a technique for getting information off of tombstones that are weathered and difficult to read. A couple in Indiana use shaving cream and a putty knife to lift information on the headstones. "some of the stones look like there is nothing on them and once you put the shaving cream on-there it appears". The couple's names are Gary and Karen Baldwin, they live in Lawrence County, Indiana and are working with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources to locate and identify cemetaries and graves. Is anyone familiar with this technique? Do we have a project like this in Missouri? I don't have an Otto, but I do have some data on Satterfield, Blevins, Skouby. All from Maries Co.
Otto Skouby was the son of Hans & Anna C. Scouby from Denmark. He had three brothers, Jesse P., Hans, Iver P. who had families in Maries County, in the 1880 census for Maries County. Hi. Here is what I have on Otto Skouby and Christina Mikkelsen. I have info on Christina's parents and siblings from the book "Highgate, MO: The First 125 Years," Peter Mikkelsen (1830-1887) was born in Osterlinnet, Schlesvig, Denmark, the elder son of Hans Mikkelsen ( - 1836) and Christina Mikkelsen ( -1863). Peter Mikkelsen (1830-1887) married Anna Schmidt (1825-1896) and they with their seven children left Denmark in 1872 for America, first settled in Gasconade County, Missouri, where he was a rope maker, then moved on to Maries County where he died. He and his wife are both buried at the old Highgate Cemetery. They were the parents of Hans Mikkelsen (1856-1930), Anna Marea Mikkelsen Rasmussen (1857- 1888), twins Christina Mikkelsen Skouby (1861-1928) and Jens Mikkelsen (1861-1866), Charley Martin Mikkelsen (1864-1956), Anna Martin Mikkelsen Dawson (1866-1923), Peter Hansen Mikkelsen (1869-about 1898), Hans Jergen (Jerd) Mikkelsen (1859-1948). Anna Schmidt (1825-1896) second married H. Rasmussen. Christina Mikkelsen (1861-1928) married Otto P. Skouby (1857-1891), and they were the parents of Hans Petersen Skouby (1886-1950) who married Gerdie Love (1887-1956), Peter Mikkelsen Skouby (1888-1965) married Jessye Burnside (1896-1970), Ottie Kathryn Skouby (1891-1983) who married Jernsen P. Skouby (1886-1952). Hope this helps!

No!! I would look for Lundsford/Luntsford when looking for this name. Go to the Maries County Web page and click on the surroundings county that you want and ask the same question in those counties. I lnow there was a Malinda Lundsford over in Osage County who marrried a Waldo.
