Hello! I too am connected to Anderson Zinn, through Laura Ellis, who was my grandmother's aunt. Their line was: William Ellis and Phoebe Lacy Ellis, of Maries County via NC and TN, had: John G. Ellis, b. 1831 TN, d. 1897 MO.....m. Martha Ann Miller b. 1836 MO; Their children were: Victrene 1854 (my great-grandmother, married James A. JACKSON); Isedore, b. 1855; Mary V., b. 1859 (both of these girls married KINKEADS); Nancy b. 1860, Laura, m. Anderson ZINN; Franzis b. 1865; Ella b. 1864; Harriet b. 1866 (married a SPURGEON), Thomas b. 1872; and Alfred Idolph b. 1874. I have photos of Thomas Ellis, and of Hattie Zinn and her family if you are interested in this line. I'd be glad to scan and send them. This family, for the most part, lived in Red Bird, Gasconade Co MO. John G. Ellis was known for helping to restore law and order to the area at the end of the Civil War. Most of these Ellises are buried in McIntosh/Nulty Cemetery, Red Bird, near what had been the Ellis farm. They all had been very active members of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, which is still there. Will gladly share information and photos. By the way, Victrene ("Teen"), the Ellis's oldest child, married a local widower when she was a teenager. She cared for her husband's children, and caught the measles from them when she was pregnant with my grandmother. Grandma was actually born with the measles. Grandma's father was James Andrew Jackson of Red Bird, who was half Cherokee. Grandma, Jessie Maud Jackson, b. Red Bird MO 1881, d. Ohio 1962, married George LICKLIDER of Jakes Prairie, Crawford Co MO. They lost their farm in the Dust Bowl, so that is why our family ended up in Ohio. Thanks for the info on the Zinns! My Mom, Lois Licklider Cuffman, almost 82, is very interested in every detail of my genealogy research. She keeps asking me about the Zinn connection.
