Melinda: Susannah Blackwell was daughter of Zachariah and Mahala Wallace. Zach married Mahala in Garrard Co, KY in 1818. She was his first wife. He later married Martha Hutchison. Zachariah Sr. died in Crawford Co, MO in 1848. I have additional information on him and his descendants. Zachariah Blackwell Sr. was some relation to Lewis Blackwell (1800) as they lived in same county in Kentucky. There is a website that you might be interested in ref the Blackwell's. See http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~patbauer/p9.htm. Wanda Blackwell. ----- Original Message ----- From: Melinda K. I have some Copeland's from Maries County in my database. I'll double check it.It is a branch of my Sewell line if I remember correctly and some of the names you list are sounding familiar. Hey Shirley, I love you and think you really do good. Merry Christmas and Happy New year to each and everyone of you. Maggi
Thanks Shirley; you do a wonderful job and I thank you for your time and efforts to make our genealogy run smoother..."To live in hearts we live behind is not to die". Cathy
I agree. I am glad I was warned before I downloaded one of these virus. I know they are not coming from the list, but people that get have email from the list in their accounts are passing it on without knowing it. I have gotten four of them from various sources that I have communicated with in the past. The last one today is from a list member and I almost didn't catch it. Kay Warren
I'm sorry but I must not get every post to this list because I have no idea what's going on. Can someone please explain to me? Is there something to worry about? Thanks for the help. Cathy
Becky Piper: Please back off! Shirley has earned the respect and confidence of many over a long period of time. Please reconsider the direction you have embarked upon. Bob Crismon
I have been informed that I am a "bully" and a mean person who does care for Maries County. That is all fine and good we all have our own opinions. If you have a problem with ME then you need to write ME privately and I'd be happy to explain my actions. Threatening me harm both physically and emotionally is not going to help the matter. Rules are rules. I have rules that I must follow as ListAdmin and you as listmembers have rules. If you think they are unfair, contact me privately. Now let's get back to genealogy. There is nothing to worry about. Another member is just not happy with Rootsweb policy. This should have never been discussed on the list had proper list rules been followed. I spend many an volunteer hour with this list and the Maries Co MOGenWeb site. I'd be the first to let you know if we needed to worry about something as my heart and soul are in the project. Shirley, I don't like being threatened for being kind. If you consult a lawyer, you will find that your actions (directed or intimated), Are ill advised. Failing to notify persons that they could be the victim of felonious attack; Is in itself a felony. As a Former US Marshall and State Police Officer, I am obligated to help people. If you feel a need to punish me for helping the only list that really matters to me, that's fine. At least I care about these people.
Looking for the location of these ghost towns. If you have any information about where these are located, please write to the list. 1st set for Maries County: Avory - Maries county - This town was in S Johnson T. An Avory family is known to have lived in Johnson T, but the location of the town is UNKNOWN and the origin of the name uncertain. Light and Veto are down in this area. Could be one of those. Barnetts Station - Maries county - This village was abandoned by 1938. It was located in N Boone T and was named for Dr Harrison Barnett, who was a physician there in the early 1850's. - AKA Barnett, AKA Barretts Station I suspect this might be SE of Meta in Sugar Creek valley, but that's just a guess. Bloomgarden - Maries county - Bloomgarden was on the Gasconade R. in the center of the county. It was named Blumengarten by Charles James, a German, for his fine garden. It has been anglicized. - AKA Blumengarten Carnes Camp Ground - Maries county - Carnes Camp Ground was located in Boone T. It was named for Rev Carnes. Dan - Maries county - Dan was a PO in NE Jefferson T. It was named for Daniel Boone Crider, an early settler. This might be outside Maries county, over in Gasconade or Osage counties, but I'm not sure. Mike Flannigan
Enough. Folks, I'm only doing what I'm told. Please don't force me to have to start unsubbing people. Read the list rules. I sent out a reminder copy. I will start unsubbing those who feel that they know better than Rootsweb and feel the need to discuss this topic further on the list even after I've asked that it not. I hate having to be the bad guy, but enough is enough already! I will unsub every person who posts on the virus subject on the list with no additional warning. YOU CANNOT GET A VIRUS FROM THE LIST!
