    3. Am reaching a dead end in Madison Co. on my Compton line. Am searching for Joseph Compton & wife Margaret who had at least one daughter, Margaret, b. 1804-1808 in KY and m. John Hezekiah Tong, maybe in Madison Co. 1824-1827 and then moved to CA where Margaret the daughter d. 1868. There were lots of Comptons in early Madison and lots of Tongs--they lived almost next door to each other in the 1830 C. I have plenty on Tongs but Comptons peter out in early 1840's. There may have been some uncles or brothers to Margaret--Richard, Andrew, Thomas, David are common names in the records. Anyone who can help me sort this out, I would appreciate hearing from you. Sincerely, Holly Bell

    3. Holly...I don't have any info for you on your comptons, but I'm interested in your Tong connection. I have that John Hezekiah Tong was the son of William Tong & his 2nd wife, Mary Thomas. William Tong was first married to Eleanor Ford, and had Theodore Frederick Tong (1787) who m. Drucilla Robinson. Their daughter Nancy Tong (1813) m. Jacob Lanius. Jacob was the son of Daniel Lanius and Polly Butt. Jacob's sister, Malinda Lanius, was my great great grandmother. She married Thomas Elmore Craddock (1819) in Madison Co., MO in Aug 1841. Thomas had a brother, John Craddock, who had gone to Texas as a young man, and died there in 1843. They must have brought him back to MO, because there is a note that his coffin was made by T. F. Tong. Barbara Craddock Pike Holly Bell wrote: > Am reaching a dead end in Madison Co. on my Compton line.
