This chapel was used by the mining families who were Catholic. This chapel fell into disuse about 1900. The nuns who operated the chapel and whatever charitable operations., were according to the parishoners downright mean, and almost beat a schoolgirl to death. So after several complaints the church closed the chapel, down and St Elizabeths became a residence for families, and my great great aunt who is 98 was born there in Feb 1903. This is theONLY other catholic church that I have ever heard about in Madison County.
