    3. I've found books of them in libraries, and also in the national census summaries that came out a few years after the census year. Otherwise the townships have tended to be a little mobile and to have changed names on occasion. For example, German Township in Madison County, which was generally from Marquand to Buckhorn, east of 12 mile township, split into Marquand and German and then German was renamed, I recall to Big Creek. Don't have my maps in front of me. For that matter the county boundaries changed a few times too. I did find those on line http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~lpproots/monmaps.htm A google search on "census maps" Missouri turned up 23,000 hits so there might be the maps on line, but I didn't come to them right away.
