    3. Dear fellow listers, I just received some new information that our family was not previously aware of. Our surname was not Riddle, but rather Riddel. My great great grandfather was Dr. Merrideth Monrough Riddel who married Ruth Reed in Madison County. This was in 10-23-1856 and they had their first son, John Franklin Riddel on 12/12/1857. He died May 21, 1858. He was buried in either Madison County or Iron County. They lived just outside of Des Arc, which may or may not have been in another county. If anyone know anything of this family, I would sure appreciate the help! Sincerely, Laura Clark

    3. Don't let the spelling of a name stop your research. Names were often misspelled back when. I include all spellings when I do lookups for others.. or in doing my own research. Not everyone could read or write back then... I like to think of my Swede grandpa (who could read & write) trying to take down information from an Irishman... Ya, mine nam es Erik Venström, da, I am here to git da nams of jour barnen... Shore man, my name is Ellis Camel Lewis Camel? Yes, shore... Ya, den can chu verify da spellin? Yes, shore... looks gud to me... By the way.. Ellis Campbell could not read nor write.. so would not have known if his info was correct anyhows.. Also, Don't forget boundary changes.. lots of them in the MO area (all over country) back then also.
