I see there are a few people out there who have a pretty good knowledge of Sheriffs, but how about Marshalls? >From obits, there were mentions that my g-grandfather and gg-grandfather served as Marshall's: Andrew RUTH, probably about the 1880's and Frank Ruth, probably in the 1930's or 40's. Frank also served as "member of the county court". Does anyone know how I can go about researching this information? Thanks, Patti
I found mention of my gggp Noble Johnson, JP, in the microfilmed records at the Missouri State Archives in Jefferson City. In a list of county elected officials. I've not found much record of his JP activities. So far just one wedding. Other JP of the era recorded a lot more work. Maybe that helps explain why he was elected for only one term and not reelected. Gerald J.
