I noticed there was a map of Madison County Spanish surveys in one of the Thompson histories printed by the newspaper at Fredericktown. Its reprinted and available from the Madison County Historical Society and at the Regional Library on West Main Street. There is a book somewhere that I've had on Spanish land surveys, that has a chapter or two on those in Missouri. Its been a least a couple years since I last had it in my hands so I don't remember the details. Most any topographic map prior to the present one and most any vintage plat book or plat map shows the surveys as distorted sections or parts of sections. Gerald J.
