Can anyone help him. Ernie ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Subj: Help -- Civil War in Macon County, Missouri Date: 3/25/2003 4:02:25 PM Eastern Standard Time From: edickson@hmns.org To: erniemiles@aol.com Sent from the Internet (Details) I am writing an article about a frontier photographer named James H. Hamilton who grew up in Macon County, Missouri. I am about to go to press soon, and am desperately trying to tie up some loose ends! In the 1850 or 1860 census, he is living in the Jackson Precint. Any suggestions about a good book or article about Macon County area at the outbreak of the Civil War? According to Hamilton's son, James Hamilton fled Macon County at the beginning of the war when he was considered a northern supporter and his farm was burned. How can I determine if there is any truth in that? Any local historians that you can suggest might be able to help track this detail down? Any information would be most appreciative! Ephriam D.
