History Bk. Neither mention Dr. Hatton as having any connection with McGhee College. In 1975, a 3-part series about the history of McGhee College was written by a reporter whom I personally knew at the Macon Chronicle-Herald newspaper. She still lives in Macon. There were numerous sources for the series including the two histories mentioned above. Specific years are given as to when the college was bought and sold and who the purchasers were, but none of the sources even mentions Dr. Ossarian S. Hatton. Copies of the newspaper can be viewed on microfilm at the Macon Public Library and there's also an actual copy of the newspaper in a file cabinet under "McGhee College". The Macon Co. Courthouse Recorder of Deeds office also might be able to help you.
