Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DNB.2ACI/480.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Janie, I checked the 1880 Missouri Census for Randolph County. It lists Henry's wife's first name as Mary M. Marshall and lists their children: Charles, Thomas and Claude Marshall. Listed at the end is Loudon Kirkpatrick. It states that he is Mary's brother. It shows him as being born in 1854 in Missouri. Althought they are listed as siblings, the birthplaces for their parents are different for each of them. Mary shows Kentucky as the birthplaces of her parents (her birthplace is listed as Missouri), while Loudon shows Missouri for the father and Virginia for his mother (it also lists him as being born in Missouri). It's possible that the census taker spoke with each separately. I found a P. Kirkpatrick, born in 1799, living in the City of Macon, Missouri in the 1880 Census. She is noted as having been born in Virginia. She is listed with the Thomas H. Smith Family and is noted as a Mother-in-law. Thomas' wife is listed as Sarah F. Smith. I don't recognize the n! ames in your message, but I haven't been able to come up with much, so far, on my GGGUncle Henry S. Marshall, his wife and children. Do any of the names I pulled from the census align with your Kirkpatrick family? I also checked the Bureau of Land Management site and found that a Mark H. and Thomas Kirkpatrick purchased Federal land in Randolph County in the 1830's. I also found a land purchase under the Homestead Act for a "Suil" Kirkpatrick in 1904 in St. Clair County. I mention this because one of the names in your previous message was "Souel" Kirkpatrick-a brother to Loudon. Jim
