    3. I am trying to find more information on a Captain VAIL of the 42nd MO Reg't Inf. Vols. Co. H and the Mississippi Co. Reg't E.M.M. Co. D. The Brother of my 2nd Great-Grandfather is Nathaniel J. FARMER. After serving in the Macon County E.M.M. he enlisted in the 42nd Missouri Reg't, Infantry in Aug of '64 under Captain VAIL. A Samuel FARMER, who I believe to be my 2nd Great-Grandfather, joined the Mississippi Co. Reg't E.M.M., Co. D in October of '64 under Captian VAIL. I just don't believe that this is random chance. I would like to confirm that both VAIL's are one and the same and know how he got from the 42nd MO to the Mississippi County EMM. David A. Farmer

There don't seem to be any towns in the township now. Bloomington was in Liberty township but doesn't appear on the current map of Missouri I checked. The 1884 History of Randolph and Macon Counties, MO lists MDs W.H. Proctor and James Matson as advertisers in the Bloomington Gazette after 1850. Other names of physicians I found associated with Bloomington are Dr. Arthur Borron, Dr. Clarke, Dr. A. L. Knight, Dr. James B. Winro who was living in Macon City when the 1884 account was written.

I'm afraid I have no more information on this particular Jane than the approximate birth year of 1808. However, her parents, Nacy Meeks and Frances Holt, were in Mississippi, the parents of 11 children. Nacy is quite well researched because he and his brother were both reverends. I'm not sure that this Jane would be the one you are looking for.
