Re German immigrants to Lewis Co., my great-grandmother Mary Elizabeth Lillard's maiden name was Kaiser, and her mother's Welsch. I was always told that these families came directly from Germany and that one young girl, possibly my gr.grandmother, was intrusted with funds to buy land before the family came on. Any ideas?
