The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has added 1.9 million burial listings to its cemeteries database. These are for military veterans buried in mostly private cemeteries, who have VA grave markers. The database already included more than 3 million graves in national cemeteries, bringing the total in the database to about 5 million listings. VA has also added maps to show many of the grave locations for those buried in VA national cemeteries, in state veterans cemeteries, and Arlington National Cemetery. The database is online at... _http://gravelocatorhttp://grave_ (http://gravelocator.cem.va.gov/) For more helpful military databases see... Furneral services will be held at 1:30 Saturday afternoon, at the First Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. F. E. Mallory, pastor of the church. The remains will be forwarded by J. Ashley Bigham to Canton, Mo., where burial will be made. Mrs. Ransom has formed many warm friends during her residence here, which has extended over a considerable period of time. Her health has failed during the past year, and her death was not unexpected, although it came as a shock to friends who have not been in direct touch with her for a short time. Mrs. Ransom is survived by her daughter, Miss Peachie, who has been devoted in her care of her mother, and by another daughter and a son both of whom live in the eastern part of the state, and by a number of other relatives. (note: "another daughter and a son" were Jennie Lou Ransom Todd of City of Louisiana, Pike Co. MO. and son Galen [Gaylon] Ransom of City of St. Louis, Missouri.") Lorraine Llewellyn

Miller James M. Miller died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. F. D. Ransom, Thursday at noon in Lousisana, January 12th. Mr. Miller was seemingly all right and was eating dinner when he suddenly strangled. He got up and went to the sink. Mr. Ransom noticed he was falling and ran to him and carried him to the sitting room and laid him down, but he was already dead. Death was caused by paralysis. James M. Miller was born in Millersburg, KY., October 29, 1829. In 1838 he came with his father’s family and many relatives, to Missouri at the age of six years and settled in Lewis county. He remained in Lewis county until a few years ago when he made his home with his daughters. In 1849 Mr. Miller was married to Elizabeth Richardson. To them four children were born, who still survive. They are J. C. Miller of Hannibal, Mrs. Fannie Hyatt of Quincy, Mrs. Hettie Offutt of Mexico, and Mrs. May Ransom of Louisiana. Mrs. Miller died about twenty years ago. In 1850 Mr. Miller united with the Christian church at Monticello, and was baptized by Etd. D, Pat Henderson. He had been a Mason since 1952. Mr. Miller was long engaged in the stock business in Lewis county and was at one time interested in St. Louis stockyards. He was a most excellent citizen and was honored and respected by all who knew him. He was a sterling democrat and served the county as Circuit Clerk for eight years. He always considered Canton his home and came back here cast his vote for the democratic nominees at every election. The funeral was conducted at the residence Saturday morning at 9:30 by Led. Lampoon. After the services the remains were brought to Canton where they were buried with Masonic honors.
