    1. [MOLEWIS] Cardwell Family in the 1800s Lewis County, MO
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ANB.2ACI/723 Message Board Post: My great grandmother was Margaret Cardwell. She married my great grandfather David Sample and had my grandfather Robert Rex Sample. I am working to find her father and mother's obits, I believe her father Napoleon Cardwell and mother was Mary Cardwell and the 1880 census shows them in Union Twp, Lewis County, Mo. The 1900 census shows them without their children in the household. Does anyone have any details about this particular family?

    2. Mitch Ryder
    3. I am seeking information on the history of Rev. Oscar F. D. Wilson. He was most commonly known as OFD Wilson. I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone whose ancestor was married or buried by Rev. OFD Wilson. I am primarily interested in the date and place of the event. OFD Wilson pastored at several churches in Lewis and Clark Counties. He may have been a circuit rider. Can anyone tell me where Mt Salem Baptist Church was? Does it still function as a church? Thank you, Mitch

    3. Yes I've been there to photograph pictures of my family's graves. there. If your going west then turn right at the it's 1 - 3 blocks north. Going east then turn left. It would be a good idea to check with local funeral home and/or newspaper. There's several cemeteries in Lewis county. There's one in Labelle, which is also on the north side of town. Mid Way graveyard also has my relatives in it. I think it would be worth your while to go to the Northeast Genealogical Society in Canton on the main street. You'll need to call ahead to be sure they're open. Also Monticello the county seat may be helpful. I have a lot of relatives in the area so they show me all the graveyards relating to the families that are part of my family tree. I hope this is helpful. -----Original Message----- From: molewis-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:molewis-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of gary_maize@yahoo.com Sent: Wednesday, October 18, 2006 6:10 AM To: MOLEWIS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MOLEWIS] Lewistown cemetery This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. 1. [MOLEWIS] James L. and William C. JONES, 1830-1880
    2. Susan Reynolds
    3. Greetings! My name is Susan Reynolds. I have just joined the list and thought I would post my brick wall. I never really thought I would find my JONESES, but perseverance has paid off. I am positive that William C (who usually went by W.C.) was my 2X great grandfather. WC married Eliza Jane CHANEY, daughter of Thomas A. and Nancy GREENWADE CHANEY. Eliza, Thomas and Nancy were all born in MD. William was born about 1830 in KY. I have him on the 1850 and 1860 census in Scotland Co., 1870 in Marion Co. and 1880 in Lewis Co. He is in census year order listed as Clerk, Farmer, Merchant, County Judge. In 1900 WC and Eliza are in Greene Co., AR. He is listed as farmer. He was also county judge in Greene County. Goodspeeds has him listed as elected in 1888 and a newspaper account in 1891 has him still sitting as county judge. He may also have been a hotel owner or it may have been his son, my great grandfather who was also WC Jones. The younger WC will marry Ada Hardy about 1910. I suspect, but cannot yet prove that the elder WC may have been the son of James L. Jones and his wife Jane. James L is on the 1840 MO census in Lewis Co., then he is on the 1850 as a farmer in Scotland Co where one of his sons at home is a clerk. In 1860 he is in Scotland Co and shown as US Marshall. His and his wife's place of birth match those WC showed on the 1880 census. Does anyone have any information on either James L. or WC? Does anyone happen to know if this James L. is from Wayne Co. KY? I have a tenuous connection to James Jones md Mary Buster. They had a son James L. born the right time and a son named William Claiborne which at least matches the initials WC. It would have been so nice if there had been less common names that made these needles in the haystack just a little larger! Many thanks in advance! Susan
