Author: marybobbitt Surnames: Buckner,Lewis,Clopp,Gunnett,Boese,Carleton,Plummer,Rapp,Vanderwerff Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.lewis/1365/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Looking for a match for my Buckner line need to find John E. Buckners parents can anyone help? John Buckner according to his daughter Ida was born in the Iron County Missouri area about 1851 and according to records John's parents were born in Tennessee .In 1879 Iron County Missouri, John married Phoebe Lewis who was born in Sabula, Iron County, Missouri. Robert and Mary Griffith who were the parents of Pheobe were from Tennessee. John and Phoebe Lewis Buckner had 7 children together all girls namely; Ida Bell Buckner Clopp, Maude or Mody Buckner Gunnett, Leatha Pearl Buckner Gunnett- Plummer, Lula Buckner Boese , Minnie D. Buckner Carleton - Rapp, Zora A. Buckner Vanderwerff and Ila Buckner. Phoebe died during childbirth August 16 1899 in Iron County Missouri from census records on John it seems he never re-married but raised the girls on his own .Of course marriages could have occured between census years however nothing has surfaced to show that happened. John was a farmer through out his life and did well it seems for he had patent to land in the Iron County area and on the 1900 census it shows that his home was a farm it was owned and not mortgaged. His land transfer papers for 1902 and 1904 could be for this farm he already owned or another in addition to what he owned in 1900.He was all ready well established by 1900 therefore he had lived in the area for some time at this point. John lived in the Iron County area up until the years between 1910 and 1920 , he was living with his daughter Zora and her husband Richard Vanderwerff Jan of 1920 on Warren street in the North St. Louis area. John's date of birth varies from census to census , he has a different age on all which places him being born from 1850 to 1856 and if the death notice is correct his birth would be 1852 /53. Death certificate found for John Buckner St Louis Missouri and death notice gives his death as Dec 1920 in St. Louis Missouri, the death certificate gives his fater as John Buckner mother not given. 3. I'm probably speaking out of turn, not having been in Lewis Co for awhile, but some years ago I took my mother to visit an elderly lady who was either related to us or who knew much about our families -- Mrs. Thelma Ball, of Ewing. Her late husband was Jerry Ball who, as I understand it, took over the old Coder Funeral Home. I'm sure she is no longer with us, but I'm wondering about her family or others of the Ball family.
