Also, do you know when they died? The last place and time I have them traced to is the 1910 census: Source Citation: Year: 1910; Census Place: Hammond, Tangipahoa, Louisiana; Roll: T624_532; Page: 18B; Enumeration District: 119; Image: 586. I know that son Theodore married Gussie Davin on June 9, 1909 and that daughter Eva May Morton and husband Mark S Bledsoe left Louisiana and died in Chickasha, Oklahoma. I would really love to round out my information on James George Morton and Margaret Ridgeway and any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. I would be more than happy to share any information I have that you might find interesting. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Your photo doesn't look a thing like our James C. Baker. My info is accurate because it came from a sibling of his back in 1917. Baker and Ford are common names in Lewis County, and since families were so large then, it's possible there were also 2 Emma Fords. Thanks for your reply. I know that I have a James C. Baker listed as a child to Erastus & Jane L. Baker in Reddish Township, Lewis Co., Missouri. The marriage might not be his. That I'm not as sure about, but he is the only James C. Baker that I was aware of in that area at that time. That would make him 21 when he married and that is not an unusual age for marriage. Do you know for sure that we're not talking about totally different people? Were your two married in Clark Co., Missouri?? Are you SURE about your James' Baker's family? How do you know who his parents are? I do know that Erastus and some of his brother's were from the New York Area, Southern New York, and of Revolutionary War stock. We have a picture of him on my website. You need to contact me directly and we should be able to work some of this out. My website is called Pioneers, Patriots, Puritans & Scalawags. The url is http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~bakhelvy/ I think you should be able ! to see his picture. If this isn't your James C. Baker we are probably talking about 2 different individuals and we need to tweeze out what belongs to whom. He is not my direct line and I'm piecing together information on his family. His brother George Alfred Baker is my Great-grandfather. We've always loved this picture of James C. Baker because he looks just like my dad's brother to a T. I know very little about the Ford connection. This may be an error on my part if they are two separate people. How familiar are you with the Bourn's of MO? I'm from the small Randolph Co community of Higbee, and am trying to put the finishing touches on a book on its history. It takes its name from the Joseph Higbee family who lived a mile or so from the townsite. They and several other pioneer families came, I believe, from Jessamine Co, KY, and among the sons-in-law of J. Higbee was a J. D. Bourn. The census mentions additional Bourns nearby, and another source indicates there was some sort of stage stop, village, etc., named Bournsville (one source says Bernsville) and of course I've assumed that this was operated by J. D. Bourn. J. Higbee died ca 1849 and was buried at the farm; the remainder of the expanded family moved to the Kahoka area, I believe; I've seen mention of the Higbee's and Bourn's in histories of that vicinity. Any ideas?
