My ancestor died in 1856 and his younger children were "tutored" out. One of them was James Franklin Watkins who was in the Canton area of Lewis Co. in April of 1870. By that time, he would have been about 20. I have been looking for the six minor children for over thirty years and this is the best lead I have had so far. I haven't been able to find them on any of the census records either. Any help appreciated. Yvonne Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. January 1887, AFC and Minerva purchased land in Delta County Texas and died there in Oct. 1887, no marked graves. Their son E.R. Anderson went with them and returned to Mo after the deaths of AFC and Minerva. E.R. and Dee Kidwell were living with parents in 1880 with daughter Minnie. Family writing states the parents did not approve of the marriage. Phillip, brother to E.R. married 3 times, twice to Lilly Tully 1872 and 1879 and had Emory. I have no clue what happened to Lilly or Emory? Susannah, Sister to E.R. married into the Prosser line and moved on to Kansas. Alice, I have had no success in locating after the 1880 Census. Family writings mention an "Aunt Mary" from Palmyra, Mo. Some other surnames that fall into my tree is Rhoades, Arment, Kidwell, Bright and of course, too many Andersons... I appreciate anything offered... Feel free to email me direct: bsaturn12@yahoo Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Anderson" (and family); it indicates they had a daughter, "Alice," aged 28 years and, right below that entry is an entry for "E.R. Anderson and wife, Demeris." Or at least it looks like "Demeris." It shows "E.R. Anderson" to be 26 y/o and Demeris (no maiden name that i can see) to be 18 y/o and what appears to be a 3 m/o daughter named "Minnie." Based on age and proximity, i would guess "E. R. Anderson" to be their son. Do you have those names to maybe work up from? I know that my branch of the Anderson family tended to recycle names like there were only about 14 to choose from and i cannot find any Allens, Alfreds, or initials; but, for that time period (and location), it's not likely that they aren't related somehow or another. I've not yet used a lot of the links on this page, but some may be useful to you: http://www.kindredtrails.com/free_genealogy_stuff.html Another pretty decent one seems to be: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ote/usa_genealogy/missouri.htm?cj=1&o_xid=0000713921&o_lid=0000713921 Don't know if that'll help you any or not, but i'll keep looing, too. Had 2 children by 1850 Phillip and Susannah. No 1850 Census located. Purchased a Lot of land around Hedge City Missouri (nothing there now). Before I continue My speel... I trace him back to Mason County Kentucky, per his civil war discharge record he was born 1820. Author: texasiapups Surnames: Jones, Anderson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.lewis/1397.1.1.1.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, Gary, Okay, I have found information below regarding offspring of James C. Jones, who you said your records indicate is the father of Naomi Elizabeth Jones: "Hezekiah Decatur SHULTS born about 1838. He married America Ann JONES. America was the daughter of James JONES and Elizabeth JONES. According to family information, they were not related. James JONES was the son of Jacob JONES and Elizabeth CUMMINGS. America was supposedly 1/4 Cherokee. America died about 1875." I can find where America Ann Jones was born in 1837 and, of course, Naomi Elizabeth Jones was born in 1832. There is noted in the Anderson family geneology that Nancy may *not* have been the correct name of James Jones' wife. Elizabeth Jones comes up far more often as his wife than does Nancy Jane Jones. I am now wondering if either (a) Elizabeth was his first wife, perhaps (since there are 5 years between the birth of Naomi and America); or, (b) if Elizabeth could have been one and the same as Nancy Jane? I have found nothing that indicates he was married twice. Also, nothing I find indicates that Naomi Elizabeth Jones had any siblings, yet there is America Ann Jones who has been traced to the same parents. Any thoughts or information on this? Thank you, again, for anything you may be able to offer. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. In a somewhat related topic, is there anyone versed in Lewis Co probate records? My gr.grandfather, James Newton Green, was the youngest of 4 or 5 children of a Wm. Felix & Mary Gearhart Lackland Green. I believe she died ca 1866 with him being awarded the children, my gr.grandfather being very young, and Felix himself died not long afterwards. Some of the children I think wound up in Kansas with relatives. Any help would be appreciated. I've never been able to locate exact death or burial info on Felix or Mary, though I think they were in the LaGrange area.
