Missouri Patriot, published Springfield MO Thursday 18 July 1867: Robert J. Kelley of Mt. Vernon is in town to- day. He is on his return from Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he has been superintending the issue of the first number of the Fayetteville Radical. He looks as if he had been well fed down there, and is wearing a better suit of clothes than a Newspaper man ought to indulge in. He reports the Arkansns [sic] Radicals wide- awake, and feels highly encourage at the prospects for the success of a Radical paper at Fayetteville. The Radical states out with an unusually large subscription list, and is a valuable medium for business men who wish to extend their trade into that part of the country.
