    3. Ron (and MOLAWREN), Fred Mieswinkel gave a presentation on the Ma Barker Gang at the LCHS meeting in May 1991. The text of his presentation was published in the July 1991 issue of the Bulletin of the Lawrence County Historical Society, pp. 27-28, 36. There are some additional notes in later issues. The Bulletin is available for purchase from LCHS on CD if you are interested. I recommend that you contact Fred Mieswinkel through the Lawrence County Historical Society, P. O. Box 406, Mount Vernon, Mo. I am sure that he can provide you a lot of information. The following is extracted from his article. A copy of the marriage license was published in the article. George E. Barker, of Aurora, over 21, and Arrie Clark, of Mt. Vernon, over 18, were married on 14 Sep 1892 at Aurora by Rev. William B. Cochran, pastor of the First Christian Church at Aurora. "Ma" Barker was born Arizona Donnia Clark about 1872 near Ash Grove, Greene Co., Mo., to John and Emeline (Parker) Clark. The father died in the late 1870s and the mother remarried Reuben Reynolds. The family apparently moved to Lawrence County by 1889 because the oldest daughter Electa A. Clark, was listed as a resident of Aurora when she married on April 6, 1889. George and Arrie purchased a lot in Aurora in 1898, which in 1991 was located at 108 Jasper. They sold that in 1899. The family is not in the 1900 Lawrence County census and may have lived east of Riverdale in Christian County at that time. The youngest son was born in Aurora in 1902 and the older sons attended school there until the family moved to Webb City, Missouri, sometime around 1904-1908. Ron, I believe there's some information about the Barker family at Greene County Archives in Springfield. http://www.greenecountymo.org/ and click on "Archives" on the menu on the left of the page. You can email the staff at the archives from that page.
