I have been researching my father's adoption records and have been told that most records were kept in the county of the adoptive parents. For me that would be Lawrence County, MO. This would have been in about 1914 and prior to adoption records being sealed. Does anyone know if records were sealed retroactively in Missouri or forwarded to Jefferson City? If the records were kept at county level where would I find out about them in Lawrence County? I am in Texas and would love to find someone willing to get them for me if they are available.
