Pat, My ancestral lines in the Halltown - Lawrenceburg - Ozark Township area are the Cameron, Hollingsworth, and Moore families and numerous other surnames that married into these families including some you have mentioned. First I am sending a little information on the Camerons and McCoys. My own great grandfather Hardin Cameron didn't come the Lawrenceburg area until 1894, but his older brother William M. Cameron had come to Lawrrence County about 1869, and their uncle Harden Cameron settled on the Lawrence County - Greene County line east of Halltown about 1839-1840. His family is in the 1850 Lawrence County census. After 3-greats uncle Harden Cameron's first wife, Elizabeth Ray, died probably about 1855-56, he married Anna L. McCoy, whom I believe is the older sister of your great grandfather General Jackson "Jack" McCoy. So as not to confuse anyone, his first name was General; it was not a military title. Some have listed Jack as the stepson of Harden Cameron and the son of Anna L. (McCoy) Cameron, but I believe that he was her younger brother. It is very likely that his death certificate may give his parents' names. The data below provides information on the first generation of my 3-greats uncle Harden/Hardin Cameron's family and some data on the McCoy family which I believe identifies Anna L. (McCoy) Cameron and General Jackson McCoy's parents, James McCoy and Sarah J. Carter, and the siblings of Anna L. (McCoy) Cameron and General Jackson McCoy, as well as Jack's wife, Sarah Adaline "Addie" (Wallis) McCoy, her parents, Nathan McNeill "Mack" Wallis and Martha E. Lotspeich and grandparents, William and Matilda (maiden name?) Wallis and Felix and Eliza H. (maiden name?) Lotspeich and other members of these families. This is information primarily derived from published transcriptions and is not proven though it offers evidence. Ross Cameron >>> [email protected] 04/03/03 12:50PM >>> Some of us have been discussing privately that many of us from long time area families are related in some way. Any of you all that are on this forum that may be related to us too? It would be interesting to find out how many pioneer families are trying to find out about their backgrounds. In major discussion are the old families that lived around Halltown. I have questions about the Ezekial Stewart, father of Byron Stewart and Ines Stewart Cantrell. Also interested in the Mason families and the Hunts families. There were two families of Stewart that were not related. Their property backed up to each other. One on the East side (us) and one on the West Side just South of Halltown. Also about GJ McCoy and his family. Alice McCoy Stewart was my grandmother. Alice had at least five sisters and two brothers. Where would their families be now? I wonder. I have questions about more families. My mother's (she was born and raised in Aurora) ancestors help settle the Aurora area. I have her as Eliza W. Neal, daughter of William Neal. Eliza is 35 years old on the 1850 census, and doesn't appear on the 1860, and Felix remarries in 1853, so I'm presuming she's deceased 1850-53, but have not checked the divorce records. I don't have a marriage date; she's married before they leave Tennessee. That's cousinly hand-me-down, so take it for what it's worth. --pig, Lotspeich researcher, 1st cousin 4x removed to Martha E.
